The Best Day Ever!

I turned 35 on Sunday. I thought I would fear this age, but I am just loving it. Sunday was, in the immortal words of Spongebob Squarepants, "The Best... Day... Ever!" Sing it with me, Moms!!!

We went to Happy Wheels rollerskating. The best part about this for me is that I did the same thing for my 10th birthday! And, I was such a Skating Queen in high school that I have my own roller skates. And by the Goddesses, my feet haven't changed size: I was able to wear my very own skates. How cool is that? Little Man had never been skating.... it was a brand new sensation for sure, but he didn't want to miss out on a moment. What a daredevil. And, as you can see, a big fan of silly photos, just like his mom. Today he's a little achy. I'm feeling some muscles I forgot I had. This has GOT to be good for my thighs.
Dave and I have been married 11.5 years, and we had never been rollerskating.... I had no idea what a good skater he was! It was fun to watch him zooming around, although we missed the "Couples Skate" cause we were all at the snack bar. Eye of the Tiger! Billie Jean! Hit Me With Your Best Shot! Sing it with me! I was in 80's hog heaven. And you know what, it felt really great to see myself in my friend Michele's photos this morning and think, "Hey! Momma's still got it goin' on! Bom chicka wow wow!"

My mom turned 60 a couple of weeks ago and when I was moaning to her about 35, she said "Honey, 60 is great. I'd never want to be 35 again. Just you wait...." That's encouraging, especially considering she's a cancer survivor! Ok, I'm on board: 35 is awesome. Yeah, the news stunk this morning. Oil is over $100 a barrel. I am shocked at the price of food every time I go to the store. We have squirrels in our attic (much more on that another day.....) but I have a great family. LM is a blast. He has no fear.... sometimes it makes me deadly afraid, but yesterday it meant that he was ready to try this new thing. It meant that he fell down a lot, but he got right back up and kept trying. If there's anything I can give to him, something to keep in his pocket his whole life, it's falling down and getting back up again with a smile.
Ok, who's up for rollerskating sometime soon??? Moms Rock! And we even roll sometimes too :-)

I loved rollerskating as a kid too! Maybe it's making a comeback as the 80's generation is bringing their kids to the roller rink. 35 is not bad Aimee, I turned 30 this year, and didn't even flinch. Aren't the 30's the new 20's or something?
